sinus lift

05 May 2021

Sinus lifting is the most common bone-plastic surgery used in dental implantology.⠀
Unlike the lower jaw, which is one whole bone, the upper jaw has 2 large cavities. These cavities are lined with mucous membranes and join the nasal cavity, we call it the maxillary cavity of "Highmore".⠀
When a person loses teeth and the issue of replacing them with implants arises, the question arises about the volume of bone tissue between the upper jaw cavity and the oral cavity
If this volume is small, the implant will simply fall into the Highmore cavity.⠀
Sinus lifting surgery is used to create the required volume of bone tissue in the implant area.⠀
The operation is performed in the following stages, under local anesthesia ⠀
In the oral cavity on the side wall of the upper jaw, an entrance is made into the entrails of the upper jaw. Carefully lift the mucosa, thus creating a free space under it.⠀
The next step is to fill the created space with osteoplastic mass. Auto bone, artificial bone, bio bone or non-bone is used for this purpose. The created window closes with a barrier membrane. The operative field is then closed and the wound is sutured.⠀
